RANITIDINE (Zantac) is used for treating certain conditions that cause your body to make too much stomach acid (eg, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome). It is also used to treat ulcers of the small intestine that have not responded to other treatment. How should I take this medicine?
Dissolve ranitidine effervescent tablets in an appropirate amount of water as directed by your prescriber just before taking by mouth. After the dose is dissolved, drink to get the entire dose. Tablets should not be chewed, swallowed whole, or dissolved on the tongue. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Take your doses at regular intervals as directed. Do not take your medicine more often than directed.

What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses.

skin rash, itching

What should I watch for while taking ranitidine?
Tell your prescriber or health care professional if your condition does not improve or gets worse. You may need to take this medicine for several days as prescribed before your symptoms improve. Finish the full course of medicine prescribed, even if you feel better.
Do not self-medicate with aspirin, ibuprofen or other antiinflammatory medicines; these can aggravate your condition.
